The whole shoot was about togetherness, but the emphasis is on the discomfort and the misunderstandings that inevitably arise when people do not really know each other, are uncertain about each other and yet they are sharing a moment of intimacy. I particularly wanted to work with a younger model to challenge stereotypes about relationships and age. The concept for the shoot was entirely mine and I chose the model, after posting a casting call on Model Mayhem. I had not thought about race but when choosing Cidy there was no getting away from it. So the shoot also became an exploration of an inter-racial relationship.
I am really, really very grateful to *Talkingdrum for going along with my idea and vision for the shoot and for delivering such a polished and beautifully processed image. I am truly proud of having modelled for this shoot.
