No more tears

London College of Fashion Project November 2007

This photograph and its companions, Desperation and Older self, younger self, as well as a few more other images, were part of a project at LCF, done by a group of final year undergraduate make up artists. The photographs were taken for an exhibition of their final year's work. It was built around the theme of a woman consumed by unrequited love, throughout her life - hence younger self and older self. The woman takes on characteristics of her lover whom is never seen - the make up shows a transformation from a soft feminine look to a strong masculine one. There is no resolution: there is a hint of a cyclical 'madness', with an all consuming passion, transformation of the self, desperation and a final moment of sad repose. There is a lot more to it , each photograph is replete with symbolism, which I will leave you to unravel.
